These terms and conditions ("Agreement") set forth the general terms and conditions of your use of the Guideloop website ("Website" or "Service") and any of its related products and services (collectively, "Services"). This Agreement is legally binding between you ("User", "you" or "your") and Guideloop ("Operator", "we", "us" or "our").

If you are entering into this agreement on behalf of a business or other legal entity, you represent that you have the authority to bind such entity to this agreement, in which case the terms "User", "you" or "your" shall refer to such entity. If you do not have such authority, or if you do not agree with the terms of this agreement, you must not accept this agreement and may not access and use the Website and Services.

By accessing and using the Website and Services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement. You acknowledge that this Agreement is a contract between you and the Operator, even though it is electronic and is not physically signed by you, and it governs your use of the Website and Services.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Users between the ages of 13 and 17 may only use the Service with the knowledge and consent of a parent or legal guardian, and a parent or guardian must agree to these Terms on their behalf. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement. We do not knowingly permit children under 13 to create accounts. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13 without verifiable parental consent, we will delete the account and all associated data.

Billing and payment

Only users who are 18 years of age or older may purchase a paid subscription. All payment transactions are between Guideloop and the adult account holder or parent or guardian. Minors may not independently enter into purchase agreements through the Service. If you are a parent purchasing a subscription on behalf of a minor, you are the subscriber of record and are responsible for all fees. Paid subscriptions are recurring (monthly or yearly as selected at checkout) and may be cancelled at any time. We may update subscription fees with reasonable prior notice.

Accounts and membership

If you create an account on the Website, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and you are fully responsible for all activities that occur under the account and any other actions taken in connection with it. We may suspend or terminate your account if we believe you have violated this Agreement or for any other reason at our discretion.

User content

We do not own any data, information or material (collectively, "Content") that you submit on the Website in the course of using the Service. You shall have sole responsibility for the accuracy, quality, integrity, legality, reliability, appropriateness, and intellectual property ownership or right to use of all submitted Content.

We may, but have no obligation to, monitor and review Content on the Website submitted or created using our Services by you. You grant us permission to access, copy, distribute, store, transmit, reformat, display and perform Content of your user account solely as required for the purpose of providing the Services to you.

Educational and informational use only

Guideloop provides tools and general guidance only. It does not provide admissions, financial aid, legal, tax, or other professional advice. College rankings, scholarship matches, admission predictions, and similar outputs are for informational use only. You are solely responsible for your own applications, decisions, and compliance with your school's and each institution's policies. We recommend that you consult school counselors, admissions offices, and other qualified professionals where appropriate.

AI features and no guarantee of results

Certain features, including but not limited to essay feedback, college insights, and scholarship matching, may use artificial intelligence and automated tools. Such outputs are suggestions only, may contain errors or inaccuracies, and do not guarantee admission to any institution, receipt of scholarships, specific grades, or any other outcome. You remain responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of your submissions and decisions. AI-generated feedback is not a substitute for advice from your school or qualified professionals.

Academic integrity

You must use essay and writing tools only to improve your own work and in compliance with your school's and each institution's academic integrity and application policies. You may not use the Service to misrepresent your work, commit plagiarism, or otherwise violate academic or application standards. We are not responsible for your misuse of the Service or for any consequences imposed by schools, institutions, or third parties.

Data and storage

Your data may be stored locally on your device (for example in browser or application storage) and/or on our systems in order to provide the Service. We are not liable for loss of data due to device loss, browser or device changes, clearing of local storage, or other causes outside our control. You are encouraged to keep your own backups of important content.

Prohibited uses

In addition to other terms as set forth in the Agreement, you are prohibited from using the Website and Services:

for any unlawful purpose or to solicit others to perform unlawful acts;
to violate any international, federal, provincial, or state regulations, rules, laws, or local ordinances;
to infringe upon or violate our intellectual property rights or the intellectual property rights of others;
to harass, abuse, insult, harm, defame, slander, disparage, intimidate, or discriminate;
to submit false or misleading information;
to upload or transmit viruses or any other type of malicious code;
to spam, phish, pharm, pretext, spider, crawl, or scrape;
for any obscene or immoral purpose;
to interfere with or circumvent the security features of the Service.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will the Operator, its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, suppliers or licensors be liable to any person for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, cover or consequential damages (including, without limitation, damages for lost profits, revenue, sales, goodwill, use of content, impact on business, business interruption, loss of anticipated savings, loss of business opportunity) however caused, under any theory of liability.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the Operator and its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, suppliers and licensors harmless from and against any liabilities, losses, damages or costs, including reasonable attorneys' fees, incurred in connection with or arising from any third-party allegations, claims, actions, disputes, or demands asserted against any of them as a result of or relating to your Content, your use of the Website and Services or any willful misconduct on your part.

Severability

All rights and restrictions contained in this Agreement may be exercised and shall be applicable and binding only to the extent that they do not violate any applicable laws and are intended to be limited to the extent necessary so that they will not render this Agreement illegal, invalid or unenforceable.

Changes and amendments

We reserve the right to modify this Agreement or its terms related to the Website and Services at any time at our discretion. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the top of this page.
